Ted Cox is a fourth generation Mudgee man passionate about grapes and wine - so after a city diversion into air traffic control, this is his ideal job!

He's a passionate and loveable character full of knowledge, a viticulturalist constantly thinking about how we can produce the best wines Mudgee has to offer. He loves a chat to his many visitors from all over Australia and the world, but is just as happy tinkering with the pumps and vines or researching new grape varieties in his messy office. He is a past president of the Mudgee Wine Grape Growers Association and a keen voice for improving the Mudgee wines voice in the industry.

In the two decades that he has been running the vineyard and cellar door, Burrundulla Wines has won countless awards, particularly for their rosés. But he is most proud of the 2018 Shiraz, which won the trophy for the best red wine at the 2019 Mudgee Wine Show.

Ted and his wife Annie - a Kiwi by birth - live on the vineyard, meaning they are never far away from the action. You may occasionally spot one of their kids - Kate, Andrew and Sarah; or their partners - behind the cellar door counter when things get busy.

Paul and his wife Pam joined us at Burrundulla in December 1980 (yes, 42 years!). After leaving school, Paul worked briefly in retail hardware, then decided that rural life might suit him better. Prior to moving to Mudgee he worked as a jackaroo at Tea Gardens, Julia Creek, Maitland and Rylstone.

Paul has acquired a lot of knowledge during his years on Burrundulla – in fact, he knows more than anyone else on the property. Accompanied by his dogs he is excellent with sheep and cattle management and says working with these hard-working four-legged friends is what he enjoys the most about his job. He is also able to utilise a marvellous vocabulary when things go wrong! He is a great mechanic and works hard to keep all Burrundulla’s equipment in good condition. The Gregoire grape harvester is one of his favourites, not to be touched by anyone else.

Paul and Pam live in a house on Burrundulla. Their chooks provide some lucky Mudgee residents with beautiful eggs (just ask the Saturday morning ladies at Our Chow!), and Paul also breeds stock horses and German Koolie working dogs.

David started working at Burrundulla in 1994, part of a team trimming our very first consignment of grapevine rootlings. He soon became a permanent employee, working almost exclusively in the vineyard.

Prior to that: after military service at Holsworthy army base he attended Hawkesbury Agricultural College/University of Western Sydney, where he was awarded a Diploma of Horticulture. Initially David moved to Mudgee to work at a rose farm on Burrundulla Road, before swapping horticulture for viticulture.

He is always keen to learn more about vineyard management, and works diligently every year to ensure that Burrundulla’s grapes are of the highest quality. He enjoys working with new varieties as we introduce them to the vineyard (most recently Montepulciano and Fiano) and discovering their peculiarities, growth habits, flavours etc.

The passionate gardener lives in a house on the banks of the Cudgegong River (almost inundated by the October 2022 floods) and still utilises his horticulture skills by pruning roses at various Mudgee gardens. He also conducts a pruning workshop at the Mudgee Small Farm Field Days every year.
